North Shore Dojo

World Class Karate Training

North Shore Dojo teaches the fine art of Shotokan Karate. Within a typical class, students focus on all essential aspects of physical fitness including physical conditioning and strengthening, stretching, endurance building, and the integration of the mind-body interactions. These special attributes have led to the development of this award and medal winning internationally renowned program.

Our KIDS AND TEENS program offers many of the same benefits in a much more traditional shotokan karate environment. The same benefits, including, self-confidence, better social skills, discipline, and respect are gained in these classes.

ADULT group classes and private lessons are also available for adults. See class schedule or contact us for more information.

The KARATE CAN-DO PROGRAM offers individuals with a wide range of abilities the opportunity to participate in karate while improving their physical, cognitive, and emotional health. The intention is to provide inclusion and adaptation in a program that is both recreational and competitive in nature. Sensei Kohn, director of the program, has developed progressive methods of teaching karate to children and adults with various disabilities that has garnered attention on a global scale. His classes are unique to the karate world and in most communities because they include individuals with physical, cognitive, developmental, behavior, emotional, sensory and learning challenges.

The program is based on the following core values:

  • Everyone has the ability to learn, the right to participate and compete

  • The focus is on what the individual CAN-DO! Focus on the ability vs. disability

  • Appropriate and challenging goals are set

Karate CAN-DO! Athletes Improve in the Following Areas:
